Samba drumming

Casual Samba drumming classes every Monday, 7-8.30pm @ Stafford.

If you're no slouch when it comes to Latin music and you are keen for a little professional inspiration, then read on...

A unique teaching style and custom-designed music lessons figure in Simon Davidson's Brisbane-based Utah Drumming Academy that has operated since 2000 and coaches individuals and groups, beginners to advanced, in funky, rhythmic Afro-Cuban, Latin, Brazilian Samba and West African drumming styles. Students are taught fundamental Latin groove via percussion instruments such as congas, bongos and djembe - all played with your hands. These instruments have a very different sound to a modern drumkit and bongos, a smaller version of congas, have a higher pitch and are played in pairs.

Playing traditional drums is fun, and different.

Utah Drumming stands for Unique Technique And Hand Drumming, meaning students not only learn how to play different rhythms but also learn to play the drums safely. At Utah Drumming Academy students learn the right technique so they don't hurt their hands while being guided in playing a variety of sounds from the drum.

Class drums are provided at Utah Drumming Academy and no experience is required.
